Secret Spot

When I walk our dog through our neighborhoods, I am always on the look-out for places I think would make good plein air vignettes. This urn, bench and garden stool, make an appearance in the loveliest front yard. The homeowner--whom I met while painting--had a low brick wall build around the perimeter of her front yard. She has a Chippendale gate at the wall and then a matching Chippendale front door, both painted in robin's egg blue. Then in the shady area of the front yard, she has a wooden Chippendale bench, urn with fern and garden stool in that same robin's egg blue. It's just lovely. I had wanted to paint it for some time, but going into it, knew the my challenge would be so many greens. Despite stopping to talk to the homeowner, a friend, and my teenage son who stopped by, I was very happy with the result.
