In Remembrance

This is a still-life painting created in Vanitas style. All depicted objects hold the traditional symbolic meanings of the transience of life and the certainty of death. They also have great personal significance since these things are what my mother loved, possessed, and left to me. I added my watch to this collection as a reminder that I will be with my mom again one day. On the one hand, I wanted to convey the sadness and pain of loss, the certainty of death, and, on the other, the warmth and importance of the remaining memories.
