You Go, Gull
Oil on Canvas. While seagulls are often consider pests, I am inspired by their adaptability and beauty. They live a boundary-style relationship between land and sea, and in all my observations, I've never seen them crushed by waves. My experience of painting this evoked my memories of Jonathan Livingston Seagull, about the personal drive to improve, freedom, and self-realization. I was working to hold color harmony and temperature, and getting those waves to reach up and grab the morning light.
