Lockhart Beach in Early Spring

This little painting is near and dear to my heart. It was done when were foraying into a new area while searching for a home. We took a little excursion out to a nearby lake to decompress after a week of house-hunting. The clouds hung heavy over the lake, offering intermittent glimpses of the mountain peaks above. The soft edges of the clouds contrasted so wonderfully with the sharp angles of the mountains. I worked wet-on-wet initially before going in to add some definition to the hills, trying to use edge contrast to add some secondary focal points.
