Urban Twilight

This is the view looking North from the new Sixth street bridge in Downtown LA. I've always been drawn to the LA river. Something about the concrete, telephone wires and those lovely old bridges grabs hold of me. With this piece, I wanted to capture that quick, fresh look of my smaller plein air studies in a large piece - and achieve of a heightened sense of reality by pushing the palate to better capture the mood of the evening, rather then painting the scene exactly as it actually looked.
