River Fork Ranch in Genoa
I start with a light wash of thinner and complimentary color over the canvas….progress with a cloth and thin paint to rough in the composition. Bring it home and let it dry. Back to the site and begin using brushes and thin paint. Let that dry Build up the surface gradually…draw and carve with a palatte knife. Work on many paintings at once Use brushes , cloths and palatte knives……let painting rest. Sometimes it takes waiting for the season to return. When the painting is in my studio….I place it upside down and sideways to see if it balances. All of my paintings are local (the Virginia Foothills or the Sierras or Truckee where we have a second home)because I have to return to the site so many times.
