The Heirloom

I prefer to paint from life and will do so whenever I can. This particular set up was painted from life (and I had a fun time shopping to put together the flowers and produce for this composition). The local food store had a basket of beautiful heirloom tomatoes and the orange one caught my eye. And, became the focal point and the reason for the title of this painting. I used mainly natural light (and blocked off most of the ceiling light) to get a natural atmosphere for this set up. The flowers are a bit abstracted with the foreground objects more developed. I had a fun time with the lost and found edges in this painting!
