Lauren's Touch
This scene was inspired by a trip to Laguna Beach. While painting this scene in the studio, I wanted to show my daughter how I create light on the rocks. I asked her to hold the pastel and showed her how to make a small simple little mark that would show the light from the setting sun. She was of course was afraid to. I then showed her how to hold the pastel in her hand, and then make a small stroke on a rock face. She laughed and enjoyed it. As I continued to working, I realized it reminded me of Lauren. The softness of the light and the delicate spray from the waves on the rocks, was just like her sensitive, caring touch.
